BECOME A FAMILY MENTOR


Family Mentors help families become accustomed to living in America through finding employment, acquiring basic necessities, and/or coaching English. Most importantly, they become friends with families starting over. Because every family is unique, Family Mentors must be aware that each family has different needs and concerns that they would like addressed. Family Mentors will also have the support of the entire Tiyya team and other Mentors if needed. 


Requirements: Available once week. Must have access to a car & valid driver’s license. 


BECOME A SOCCER COACH


Soccer coaches guide our youth participants, varying from grades K-12,  in our All S.T.A.R. (soccer, tutoring, arts, and recreation) Program.  Soccer take place seasonally in Fullerton, CA on Saturdays at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 


Requirements: Available on select Saturdays. Must be able to provide transportation to and from the soccer field for their mentees & have a valid driver’s license. No experience necessary; training is provided.


HOST A WORKSHOP


Individuals and corporate volunteers are invited to host workshops that provide professional development to the refugee and low-income immigrant adults enrolled in Tiyya's L.E.A.D Program. Session topics range from resume writing, interview skills, personal branding, networking, and more.  Workshop opportunities are also available for our youth participants who are enrolled in the All S.T.A.R. Program.  Youth activities can include yoga, arts, storytelling, self-empowerment training, and more. 

Requirements:  Currently active in a corporate volunteer program through work or deemed a professional in your industry.  Must be flexible and easy to work with. 


BECOME AN INTERN


Join Tiyya’s robust internship opportunity and gain real life experience. Projects include: event planning, coordinating with local school clubs like Fresh S.T.A.R.T. (Students Together Aiding Refugees Today), outreaching to local refugee families that Tiyya serves, translating conversations and documents, managing our Diaper Program, conducting research and much more!   

Our MFT (Marriage and Family Therapy) Internship launched in Spring 2017. Must be eligible to gain hours through the State of California. 

Requirements:  Can follow directions and complete tasks. Must be flexible and easy to work with.
